A slender scalloped roof play area sits above a multi-purpose educational space in this arts pavilion for a college in New Zealand. Delicate white columns support the black hull of the play zone, with the pavilion sitting on top of a stepped plinth which in turn provides viewing platforms for the rugby pitches and the sea beyond.

Willow House, Barnes

Set in West London, this discrete home is accessed via a bridge over the river leading to a solid timber entry porch, and is the only connection from the property to the street. Two cast overflows discharge roof rainwater directly into the river below. The whole property is arranged around a toplit library, with bedrooms and toplit reception spaces all linking through it with open circulation.
